| Tracy Carter Executive Director; Wildlife Rehabilitator |
| Tracy originally joined the Sanctuary staff in June of 2002. She soon realized that this job would, in time, provide the opportunity to combine her passion for teaching with her love for wildlife. By October 2002, Tracy attended classes and obtained her Kentucky Wildlife Rehabilitation License. Armed with more knowledge, she took on more responsibilities at Broadbent. Subsequently, Tracy received her Federal Rehabilitation License. She continues to increase her knowledge of Wildlife Care by attending classes throughout the country. She has taken many classes in a wide range of subjects. Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation Raptor Rehabilitation Bat Rehabilitation Fluid Therapy Wildlife Feeding & Nutrition Orphaned Animal Nutrition Handling & Physical Restraint Housing & Criteria for Release Educational Program Development Basic Falconry Techniques of Organization Management 101 Management for Non-Profits Today, Tracy serves as the Executive Director. The Sanctuary's Founder, Mary Ann Tobin, plans to open an on-site Educational Center in 2012. This will make Tracy's dream of teaching others about wildlife come true. Children as well as adults will not only learn basic information about the animals, but also the dilemmas facing wildlife today. Loss of habitat due to building and development is a huge concern as are pesticides and pollution. Tracy believes that it is important to educate children to respect all animals and to co-exist with native wildlife. Tracy strives to be the best Wildlife Rehabilitator she can be, this means setting high standards for herself and for the other members of the staff. Her goal is for every animal that comes to the Sanctuary to receive the highest quality of care possible. In Tracy's words... My position with Broadbent is not just a job, it is my heart. For me it's about looking into the eyes of a Great Horned Owl, listening to the chatter of a baby raccoon, and above all it's about being able to return them to the wild. |
