Mother raccoon will come and go throughout the day and night.

She is more likely to approach if humans are not near the nest.

                    Is he or she an orphan or is Mother watching ?
                                         *No matter how long you have been watching,
                                          if the baby is not injured,
                                          please leave the area.

                                             *If you have moved the baby, before reading this,
                                               Please take it back to the exact location immediately.

*You may return to the sight after 10 to 12 hours.
If the baby is gone, mother has moved it to a new nesting sight.
If the baby is still there and is quiet and alert, it is being cared for.

*There are only 3 situations
that merit rehabilitation.

1) if it is injured
2) if it is so weak that it cannot
wiggle or lift it's head
3) if it is crying loudly for at least 1 hour
